The franchise law practice at James M Loots PC covers all areas of franchising, including franchise agreement reviews and negotiation, as well as court and arbitration litigation regarding the franchise relationship. We are experienced in assisting franchisors through the myriad regulations and requirements of multi-state franchise registration and compliance.  Our franchise litigation practice focuses on myriad issues, including encroachment, exclusive territories, wrongful termination, refusals to consent to transfer, advertising fund misappropriation, sale of franchise, unjust enrichment and antitrust. Although our practice is primarily devoted to representing franchisees and regional franchisees, we also can assist new businesses who desire to develop their franchise systems in conformance with good business practice, state and federal laws.

Although the firm is based in Washington, DC, its practice is a national one, covering litigation in federal and state courts throughout the country. In addition to having the reputation and expertise to successfully litigate against some of the largest franchisor law firms, the firm believes that a franchisee can best maximize his chances of prevailing in a dispute with his franchisor by obtaining effective and timely legal counseling before the inception of the franchise relationship.
